About us:
We created the homepage Baliartdecor.com to help all those, who want to decorate their home or office uniquely and on high standard. You may ask: why Bali? Don’t we have enough good artists in Europe? Or is the selection insufficient?
The story began, when my wife and I spent a few weeks on the island of Bali. There beyond the beautiful seaside, exotic palm groves, paddy fields and exceedingly friendly nature of the locals we discovered also the local art.

This discovery did not result immediately in us founding an internet gallery with Balinese painting. We purchased a few paintings to put on the wall in our dining room and bedroom. On every journey to the Asia we bought some kind of a handicraft. But these paintings excelled all the souvenirs brought from other countries. They were painted on canvas of extremely good quality, with unbelievably vivid colours and perfect composition. It was only after our homecoming that we got engaged in Balinese painting more deeply.
If paintings why Bali? Painting, carving and dance are the traditional arts of the Balinese. They got widely known in the 30s of the 20th century when the first well known European painter settled down on the island. It was a German painter of Russian origin, Walter Spies, who was soon followed by Walter Bonnet from the Netherlands. These two artists not only had a massive influence on the local painting, they contributed to introducing Bali to the world. Before the arrival of the European artists the majority of the local paintings had been treating religious, ceremonial topics. As a result of the European painters’ influence new schools were formed and traditional Balinese style was mixed with European trends. The town of Ubud in the middle of the island became an artistic center. It is easy to spend more time than originally planned in this picturesque town surrounded by mountains and paddy fields. There are plenty of galleries, and the selection is incredibly rich. After we’d decided to open an internet gallery we contacted the Indonesian Embassy, Trade Promotion Center, and of course a number of Balinese galleries and artists.
When we were choosing the painters to work with, main criteria were perfect skill and a wide range of pictures offered on affordable price. These paintings do not belong to the category of investments; they are to serve as quality decoration. Our aim is to make certain that in our gallery everybody finds the painting that fits perfectly in the given surroundings. For that very reason we are ready to content your individual requests too.

Functioning of the gallery is ensured by the Slovak company Falconier Ltd., whose scope of activities includes among others consultancy in the region of Central-Eastern Europe.
I wish you a nice tour in our gallery! We are ready to answer your questions on the email address: info@baliartdecor.com.
